Young children are always taking in information while they explore the world around them.
Introduce your toddler to words they may not have heard before – particularly describing words – with a Mystery Box!
Fill a box with a variety of toys and other household items, all with different shapes, sizes, colours and textures. Add blocks, a spoon, a toy car…or even some socks!
Pick an item each (no peeking!) and take turns describing it for the other to guess. It is shiny? Is it fluffy? Is it red or blue, tiny or enormous?! There is no end to the list of new words your little one can learn, and there’s room to teach them trickier words as they grow older.
