As the day winds down, take a quiet moment to talk to your child about everything you did together. It might sound simple, but these little chats are a powerful way to help your baby learn language and connect with you over shared experiences, with the added bonus of supporting their memory recall.
You could try something along these lines, recounting your outings and activities:
“Today we went to the beach. Do you remember what we saw in the water The seagull pinched our chips?”
“We read lots of books this morning, which one was your favourite?”
“We drove to Nanna’s house today, and we all sang songs together.”
Remember to leave space for your child to add to the story of the day- you might be surprised at what they remember! Even if they can’t quite talk yet, your baby is listening, learning, and loving the sound of your voice.
